A man has admitted exposing himself to staff at the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.

Cathal Feeney, with an address in the Belfast area, yesterday [20/10/2025] pled guilty to one charge of exposure at the North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine.

The court heard that the 39-year-old had been escorted to the Causeway Hospital on 28October 2024 by prison guards.

While there, he exposed his penis to hospital staff on three occasions.

Prosecuting counsel stated that Feeney complained to staff that he “had a sore penis” and asked them to “put gel on it”.

Hospital staff observed that Feeney “appeared to be playing with himself”. He was given three warnings to stop but failed to do so.

Standing in the dock, Feeney pled guilty to the charge of exposure.

Defence counsel James Carson agreed with District Judge Peter King that a pre-sentencing report was required before the defendant could be sentenced.

Judge King stated that he would favour an outcome which would allow Feeney to receive “some help in the community”.

Sentencing was deferred until 1 December when the court will receive the pre-sentencing report.
